Altaquota Adventures
Top-notch active tours for small groups of friends
Cortina - The heart of the Dolomites
Cortina d'Ampezzo, long famous for its hiking and climbing, became world famous by hosting the 1956 Winter Olympics.
Today, wonderful road cycling and mountain biking make Cortina a "must go" destination for active sports enthusiasts.
Picture yourself riding, hiking, and mountain biking among the Dolomites' shear rock faces!
Bormio - Big Giro d'Italia Passes
The Mortirolo, Gavia, & Stelvio–These famous Giro passes challenge you with their long climbs and fast descents!
Bormio's picturesque alpine setting is perfect for tackling these passes, and its quiet old town center provides a true "Italian" experience!
Less famous, Bormio's hiking and MTB are equally world class!
Bellagio - Lakes and Mountains
There's nothing like the water, sky, and mountains of Lago di Como!
Popular with Italians for their summer vacations, countless boats of all varieties dot the deep blue water.
After cycling and hiking among the lakeside villas and gardens, we "get out on the water," with a ferry ride back to our hotel!
Massa/Carrara - The Italian Riviera
Wonderful biking and hiking around the Apli Apuane marble quarries of Michelangelo fame!
Appearing snow-capped in summer, due to the bright-white marble, we hike and bike trails and roads built over 2000 years!
With a scant 5 Km between alpi and mare–and the beach–our apres sport is a nap in the sun, and a dip in the Mediterranean!

Cortina d'Ampezzo is a Winter Wonderland!

Immerse yourself in the unforgettable skiing and boarding experience of the Italian Dolomites. Spectacular snow covered peaks rising thousands of feet above tree line will dazzle your senses, while the seemingly endless variety of ski trails provide non-stop fresh skiing and boarding adventures!

The Dolimiti SuperSki area is HUGE: comprising 1200 km (745.64 miles) of ski trails in 12 resorts–many of which are interconnected–and which includes 450 ski lifts and 20 snowparks.

Cortina d’Ampezzo, the "Queen of the Dolomites," a jewel of a city, is nestled in a broad valley surrounded by towering mountains, and provides an abundance of après ski entertainment, as well as having a colorful and interesting history.

Skiing high up on the Tofana, just below the Ra Valles tram terminal, and below a short descent of the steepest pitch of the Focella Rossa. Far below us, the small town of Cortina d'Ampezzo is nestled in the valley, straddling the torrente (fast creek) Boita. And yes, you can ski all the way to town (near the base of the Freccia Nel Cielo tram terminal).

We are all smiles above Pian Ra Valles, the large bowl above the Ra Valles tram terminal, as we prepare to dive into fresh powder!

After our fun-filled day on the slopes above Cortina d'Ampezzo, we take a walk through the pedestrian only main street, and enjoy some friendship, festivities, and window shopping before dinner.

Looking up the Duca D'Aosta - Pomedes chair at Il Schuss. This lift is for sciatori esperti only–expert skiers–due to the speed of the fixed-grip chair. However, once on top, there is an easy way down, avoiding Il Schuss! See more about Il Schuss
